Asha is the chairperson of Roshani Women Farmers’ Group and a community leader. Her family has four members and 0.37 acres of agricultural land. During meetings, she was told that she was an aware woman with capacity to lead the community as she proactively participated in all the project activities.
Training on mushroom cultivation was arranged for 60 women from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Azamgarh. In all 35 women farmers were given kits for mushroom cultivation. Asha decided that she will grow mushrooms commercially.
She began with 1 kg span of oyster mushrooms. She made eight bags and hung them in a dark room. After 15 days, she made holes in the bags and mushroom branches came out of the holes. She cultivated 25 kg mushrooms, selling at the rate ₹160 per kg fresh, from 1 kg span. She dried the mushrooms harvest, powdered it and earned good profit.
Asha became a shareholder of FPC Agros Azamgarh Women Farmers’ Produce Company formed by the project and got a platform for the sale of her produce.
